On 24 June 2025, the PAREMPI project was presented at the 11th International Congress on Combustion Engines (PTNSS 2025) in Katowice, Poland, by Wojciech Honkisz from project partner BOSMAL Automotive Research and Development Institute.
The presentation, titled “PAREMPI: Particle Emission Prevention and Impact – from Real-World Emissions of Traffic to Secondary PM of Urban Air,” highlighted the project’s efforts to better understand and reduce transport-related contributions to particulate matter (PM2.5) in urban environments.
Key results shared included insights into the formation of secondary aerosols (SecA) from various transport modes — including light- and heavy-duty vehicles, aviation, marine, and brake wear — as well as early findings from toxicity assessments and modelling of urban air quality. The project also introduced a novel ePMI module to estimate total particle mass emission potential based on precursor gases.
This presentation marked an important step in disseminating PAREMPI’s research within the scientific and technical community working towards cleaner transport solutions.
