PAREMPI Project releases “Air Quality Anthem” inspired by emissions measurement campaigns

The PAREMPI project is excited to unveil its original song titled “PAREMPI Air Quality Anthem”, composed during its 2024 aviation and marine emissions measurement campaigns in Finland.

The song was written and performed by Petteri Marjanen with lyrics, vocals, guitar, and composition contributed by him. Hannu Kuutti, who sequenced real engine and pump sounds recorded during the campaigns, transformed technical field recordings into the song components. Petteri and Hannu are researchers from Tampere University and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and active partners in the PAREMPI project. They participated directly in the measurement campaigns, bringing hands-on experience to the creative process.

The recording, mixing, mastering, and video production were carried out by Jesse Juhala, resulting in a professionally produced studio live version of the song. The track combines elements of folk and pop, and is openly licensed under Creative Commons (CC BY 4.0), making it available for reuse with attribution.

The song reflects the everyday experience of campaign work: operating instruments, managing tight schedules, solving technical issues, and collaborating across locations—from Bielsko-Biala in Poland to Kajaani in Finland. It also expresses the shared motivation behind the project: contributing to cleaner air and a healthier environment through scientific research.
