PAREMPI paper presented at TRA 2024 conference in Dublin

The Transport Research Arena (TRA) occurred in Dublin, Ireland from 15-18 April 2024. With the theme “Transport Transitions: Advancing Sustainable and Inclusive Mobility,” TRA2024 stood as Europe’s premier transport event, encompassing various modes and facets of mobility.

It was the largest research and technology conference in the region, attracting a diverse audience of researchers, policymakers, and industry professionals, with more than 400 participants in attendance.

The conference aimed to explore the potential of research and innovation in reshaping transportation, providing a valuable platform to gain insights into mobility trends, industry accomplishments, and exchange policy best practices.

Our project coordinator Päivi Aakko-Saksa from VTT presented a PAREMPI paper this week during the TRA 2024 conference.

The paper titled “Transport sectors real-world emissions: From gaseous precursors to secondary aerosol formation in urban air” has been written by several PAREMPI partners and Päivi Aakko-Saksa as the main author.

It was a moment to discuss that mobility is crucial for meeting human needs, but transportation emissions contribute to environmental issues. Technological advancements in engines, electrification, and alternative fuels aim to mitigate climate and air pollution impacts. However, challenges persist, particularly in the aviation and maritime sectors. Päivi highlighted that efforts to understand and address harmful emissions, including secondary of aerosols, are essential for health and environmental sustainability.
