Results

The PAREMPI project significantly increases understanding and scientific evidence of the contribution of transport sectors’ emissions to ambient PM2.5 levels through the formation of SecA, and their harmfulness, particularly during winter.

This enables identification of prevention actions of the ambient PM2.5 levels derived by transport sectors, potentially saving 20% of premature deaths related to transport-derived PM2.5.

The wider impact of the PAREMPI results and tools is achieved when adopted by other researchers, stakeholders, and policy-makers, enabling further savings in premature deaths in Europe and globally.

Notably, evaluation of SecA formation potential is possible even for future technologies not evaluated in the PAREMPI project by utilizing and further developing the PAREMPI tool, the ePMI module.
